ISO9001 update 2015

Posted by: Tony Wilkinson

All management system standards are reviewed every 5 years or so and ISO9001:2008 is planned to be updated in 2015.

Following the non-event that was the 2008 update I am hoping that the 2015 changes correct the missed opportunities from the 2008 revision and move the standard further along the route to a completely integrated business management system standard along the lines of PAS99 that I envisage for the future.

I would welcome further simplification and guidance included within the document.

The preventive action clause should be renamed ‘Risk management and improvement opportunities’ to at a stroke clarify requirements.

The preventive action phrase should be returned to Corrective action where it belongs and is understood by industry.

PAS 99 ISO14001 and ISO18001 use the phrase ‘Operational control’ Why not use in ISO9001 instead of ‘Process control’

The recently published High level structure document for Standards provides much reason for optimism.
