I have recently experienced my first ISO50001 assessment. It was an interesting and useful experience. Although based on the 10 clause format of all management systems standards. The focus of the audit is definitely on improvement, refreshingly so.

I have been reading 'Black box thinking by Matthew Syed it has been an interesting read so far. I think the approach does and could benefit businesses in their attitude towards corrective action opportunites and process improvement.

All management system standards are reviewed every 5 years or so and ISO9001:2008 is planned to be updated in 2015.
